We want to remind you that when you are traveling with pets, do not forget to make a plan for your pets. Your pet is your responsibility and the US Government does not evacuate pets or make your shipping arrangements for you. You can go to www.state.gov/m/fsi/tc/c10442.htm for questions about import and ruarantine restrictions and details about US air carrier pet shipping policies.
Pets can be travelled VIA air three different ways: excess/accompanied baggage, as air cargo (on the same or seperate flight, or as air cargo (VIA a commercial shipping company). In all instances pet owners should check with their airline for applicable guidance and restrictions.
Travelers who may be plannin to ship their pet back to the US as cargo versus accompanied baggage should be aware that the Trnasportation Security Administration (TSA) has been strictly enforcing its directive that all animals coming into the US as cargo must be handled at the foreign airport of origin by a known shipper or from a company that holds an IAC license.
